In Dagestan, boxing coach detained

Today, Gasan Urdashev, a resident of Buynaksk, who works as boxing trainer, was detained by policemen. This was reported by his brother Gadji. The police investigate the detainee's possible communication with members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). This was reported by a source in the law enforcement bodies.

According to the Gadji Urdashev's story, in the morning, power agents detained 36-year-old Gasan Urdashev at his house. "We were told that he was taken away to the city police department; however, his whereabouts there was not acknowledged to me. I was told at the unit on duty that he had not been brought to their place," Gadji Urdashev said.

The detainee's brother also reported that after Gasan had been taken away, his house was searched, and as a result of which, "illegal items were found, presumably, round for weapons."

"I am sure that the rounds were planted to him during the search," Gadji Urdashev said. He continued: "My brother is married and got three minor children; he works and trains young people, and he was not involved in anything illegal."

According to the source's story, at present, relatives are going to hire an advocate for Gasan, since they fear of unlawful actions of law enforcement bodies.

Zarema Bagautdinova, the representative of the Dagestani regional public organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) in the city of Buynaksk, has also confirmed the information about the detention of Gasan Urdashev.

According to the information of Zarema Bagautdinova, the detainee is a follower of Salafism, and she believes that fact "became the main reason for his detention by the police."

In fact, Gasan Urdashev has been detained, and the police investigate his possible communication with IAF members who are involved in shelling of a police car that occurred on April 30, 2013. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a source at the City Interior Division.
