Two Dagestani NPOs quit "United Caucasian Forum"

Two non-profit organizations (NPOs) from Dagestan, "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights" and "Fighter for Justice", have announced their withdrawal from the "United Caucasian Forum", explaining their decision by "poor coordination of the Forum," and disagreement with the organizers on some issues.

The establishment of the association "United Caucasian Forum" was announced by NPOs of Northern Caucasus in January 2012. Initially, the Forum united 11 NPOs from republics of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD); now they are 15 of them there.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Svetlana Isaeva, the head of the human rights NPO "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights", that the reason for quitting the Forum was a frustration with its work.

"I wasn't informed about the session of the Forum or in Nalchik, its programme and topics chosen for debates. These topics should be selected in coordination by forum delegates. It turned out that having gone to the event, I didn't participate in its work and actually was a guest there," said Isaeva.

Another NPO – "Fighter for Justice" – has also said goodbye to the Forum; its head Murtazali Tagirov has explained that the main reason was in the "lack of coordination of the Forum."

The "United Caucasus Online" does not agree with the accusations of human rights defenders, who have refused from their membership in the organization.
