Court in Buynaksk arrests three local residents, whose houses were blown up

Asadullah Tseretilov, Asadullah Karanaev and Said Umarov, who live in Buynaksk and in whose houses, according to power agents, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found and neutralized on May 6, were arrested by the court for a month. Law enforcers now decide whether a criminal case against them will be opened for storing explosives. Their relatives say that they intend to seek compensation for the property damaged by the explosions.

On May 8, the decision to arrest Asadullah Tseretilov, Asadullah Karanaev and Said Umarov was made by the Buynaksk City Court, said a female relative of the Karanaev family. "The alleged reason for their arrest was the investigators' suspicion that the detainees could be involved in storing explosives," the woman told the "Caucasian Knot".

A source from the Buynaksk city police department has confirmed the arrest of three people detained after searches in the houses, where IEDs were found.

"In relation to all the detainees, the inquiry bodies consider opening of criminal cases under Article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal storage of weapons and explosives)," said the source to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Zarema Bagautdinova, who is representing the "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), the owners of blown-up houses intend to seek compensation for their lost property; while she had complained to the prosecutor's office on the incident that happened to her on May 6.

"I submitted my complaint to the prosecutor's office in the evening on May 7. No answer has arrived so far. Also I tried to get, together with mistresses of three blown-up houses in Buynaksk, to get a personal appointment of the city public prosecutor; however, he refused to meet us, explaining that he will call us himself in the course of the inquiry into blowing up of houses," said Bagautdinova.
