Advocates of Kabardino-Balkaria cancel planned strike

The strike of advocates of Kabardino-Balkaria will not be started, since, during the meeting of the leaders of the Advocates' Chamber with representatives of the law enforcement agencies, it was agreed to respect the rights of representative of the advocate profession in exercising their professional activities.

"We have been heard, and our goal has been achieved," said Dalkhat Doduev, First Vice-President of the Advocates' Chamber of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) at the today's meeting of the Board of the Advocates' Chamber.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 11, at the session of the Advocates' Chamber of Kabardino-Balkaria, it was decided to refuse to participate in the investigatory actions to be held starting from April 24 till May 1. The action was supported by all members of the Advocates' Chamber.

The meeting was held on April 23 at the Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The meeting was attended by leaders of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the UFKSIN (Department of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service), the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the UFSIN (Department of the Russian Federal Correction Service), and human rights activists.

During the meeting, a representative of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic has firmly promised that the advocates' claims on cases of violations of their rights to exercise their professional activities will have quick response, the "Caucasian Knot" was told by an informed source. According to his information, the MIA has also announced its intention to investigate the claims about violations committed by MIA's staff members against advocates and their clients.
