Volgograd hosts rally to support right to own firearms for self-defence

On April 21, in Volgograd, 80 persons took part in the rally demanding to return to Russian citizens the right to own short-barrelled firearms of self defence.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Mikhail Goldreyer, a coordinator of the regional branch of the All-Russian Movement "Pravo na Oruzhie" (Right to Arms), the rally has been agreed with the authorities. Participants of the action organized by the Movement kept the slogans reading: "My Home is My Castle!" and "I am not to Retreat!"

Supporters of the right to armed self-defence gathered at the monument to Komsomol members in Lenin Avenue. From there, their column went to the fountain of Arts, where the rally took place. The number of rally participants included supporters of the "Rodina" (Motherland) Party and the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. During the march near the Central Bank, the column was joined by participants of the picket in defence of Black Soil Region and against the extraction of nickel in the vicinities of the Khoper River, which took place on April 21 at the initiative of the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF).

"We speak for returning to Russian citizens of the right to own short-barrelled firearms of self-defence, changing of the law of self-defence so that citizens can defend themselves against criminals without the risk of their criminal prosecution, and also releasing heroes of self-defence: Chimit Tarmaev, Alexandra Lotkova, Cossack Strigin," Mikhail Goldreyer has emphasized.

According to his story, the march was accompanied by a large group of policemen, "with whom we managed to established good contact." "Policemen are our same-minders," Mikhail Goldreyer has stated and noted that "according to the information from the different cities, the Volgograd rally was one of the most spectacular and massive."

Let us remind you that on December 1, 2012, in Volgograd, Mikhail Goldreyer held a solo picket in Alley of Heroes in defence of the people's rights to possess their own firearms.
