SC upholds guilty verdict on attempted terror act in Rostov-on-Don

Today, the Judicial Panel for Criminal Cases of the Russia's Supreme Court has considered an appeal lodged by Dmitry Fedorushkin and Pavel Efremov, who had been convicted for an attempt to commit a terror act in Rostov-on-Don, and upheld the verdict.

On April 23, 2010, in Rostov-on-Don, in front of the building of the local Migration Service, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found; and on April 30, 2010, three local residents – Dmitry Fedorushkin, Alexander Svetlitskiy and Pavel Efremov – were arrested in this context.

On February 8 this year, all the three defendants were found guilty by the Rostov Regional Court and sentenced – by combination of crimes – to the terms ranging from 10.5 to 17 years of high security colony. Besides, they were sentenced to one additional year of freedom restriction in a general colony. Then, two of them appealed against the verdict.
