Editor of “Azadlyg” newspaper called for an action to stop repression against youth

Ganimat Zahid, Editor of oppositional newspaper “Azadlyg”, called to hold an action “Day of solidarity of all those opposing the authorities’ repression against youth” on the Facebook.

Blogger Gorgud, Azerbaijan, Baku, also reported this call for the action in his blog on the “Caucasian Knot”.

Preliminarily, the action is planned at 18:00, April, 12. A group of 27 persons was created. 30 people declared their intention to participate in the action. “The place has not been yet announced as well as the type of the action. Most probably, it will be an unauthorized action in Fountains square”, the blogger writes.

The action will be held in connection with detentions and fines young activists have been undergoing recently. In March five activists of youth organizations were arrested in Azerbaijan.
