Georgia refutes detention of Abkhazian ship in Poti

The Georgian party has denied the information that the ship "Aydar" sailing to Turkey from Abkhazia was detained in international waters and escorted to the port of Poti. According to the Georgian party, the ship could not continue its way because of a storm.

In its turn, Abkhazia has regarded detention of "Aydar" as piracy, said the president of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab. Besides, an official statement was made by Abkhazian Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), which called on the Georgian party to explain the "act of piracy and maritime terrorism" as well as to report on the status of the ship's crew, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

According to the Georgian party, there was no detention of the ship or its crew at all; and as soon as the storm in the waters of Poti is over, "Aydar" will be able to continue its way on the schedule.

Besides, law enforcement authorities of Georgia have reported that the crew "feel good" and are free to go out to Poti, the "Georgia Online" reports.
