Sukhumi hosts action of solidarity with Syrian Circassians

On November 22, the action of solidarity with the Abkhaz-Adyg, Circassian Diaspora Syria was held in Sukhumi. The participants of the action called Abkhaz leaders to take measures to protect the life of their compatriots.

The action of solidarity with Syrian Circassians took place in the park on the promenade of Sukhumi, where the monument to Muhajirs immigrants was erected. The action was attended by the leaders of Abkhazia, MPs, and representatives of social and political movements, parties, foreign Abkhaz Diaspora, and repatriates from Syria and Turkey.

"Return of the descendants of Muhajirs is our common goal, our national idea. This problem unites us with our Adyg brothers. We are united in this issue, since it is not only the restoration of historical justice, but also a chance for the revival of our nations," said Timur Nadaraya, holder of "Order of Leon", when opening the meeting. He continued: "Events in Syria uncovered particularly acute problems of repatriation. Our goal is to help our compatriots to return to their homeland."

The event had no political motive, since "the work aimed to strengthen the unity of our nation, spread all over the world, should be a nationwide idea of all Abkhaz people." This was stated by Alkhas Aslandziya, a participant of the action.

The participants of the action adopted an appeal to the leaders of Abkhazia. In their appeal, they call on "to take immediate actions in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the country and to demonstrate the political will to protect the lives of compatriots."
