Prosecutor's Office challenges initiation of criminal case on Dubrovka terror act

The Prosecutor's Office has appealed against the decision of the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow, which declared illegal the refusal to open a criminal case on the hostage liberation operation at the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre in 2002.

"The cassation presentation of the Prosecutor's Office has arrived in the court, but the date of consideration is not appointed yet," said Yulia Skotnikova, the press secretary of the Lefortovo Court.

On November 2, the Lefortovo Court of Moscow found the refusal of investigators to open a criminal case against the officers who were in command of the liberation operation to be illegitimate.

Today, the lawyer Igor Trunov said that the decision of Lefortovo Court obliging the ICRF to open a criminal case on the assault of the Theatrical Centre came into force. "The decision of the Lefortovo Court had been challenged by nobody; and we received an official notification about the entry into force ", The RAPSI quotes Mr Trunov as saying.

However, in connection with the appeal of the Prosecutor's Office, the court decision has not entered into force.

Meanwhile, the ICRF has expressed its readiness to cancel the decision to refuse to open a criminal case on the special operation in the Dubrovka Centre, if the Moscow City Court upholds the decision is the district court, the "Interfax" reports.
