More than 80 participants of conflict between natives of Central Asia in Sochi sent home

First 82 participants of mass fight of foreign workers in the site of the construction of sports and tourist complex "Mountain Carousel" in Sochi sent to places of their permanent residence. This was reported by the UVD (Interior Department). Local human rights defenders report complaints of detained workers from Uzbekistan about torture at police stations.

On November 5, at the territory of the complex "Mountain Carousel" in Sochi, a mass fight between builders from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan occurred. The fight was caused by a domestic conflict. In total, 243 workers took part in the fight, mostly residents of Uzbekistan and partly residents of Tajikistan. All of them received orders of their dismissal and tickets to home.

82 citizens of Uzbekistan have already left for home; the leaders of the contracting organizations booked two buses for that purpose.

Departure of foreign nationals was held under police supervision, their whole route was controlled, and the Federal Border Service confirmed that all workers, sent from Sochi, are outside the Russian Federation.

Other participants of the conflict will also be sent to places of their permanent residence in the nearest future. This was reported by the statement on the website of Department of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the city of Sochi.

On November 9, inspection team of the regional Public Monitoring Commission checked the special centre for foreign nationals, where five workers were kept, who wrote complaints that they were tortured at the Krasnaya Polyana police station of the city of Sochi.

"I have the copies," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Professor Mikhail Savva, Deputy Chairman of the Community and Advisory Council under the Department of the Federal Migration Service. The Professor continued: "According to the workers, policemen tortured them, trying to knock out their testimonies. They used an electric shocker and truncheons."
