Search at headquarters of Executive Committee of Extraordinary Congress of the People of Kalmykia

The ongoing confrontation between the Kalmyk opposition and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's regime has reached a new stage. On February 25, police officers conducted a search at the headquarters of the Executive Committee of the Extraordinary Congress of the People of Kalmykia without any sanction. They seized all posters that contained at least some criticism against President of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. The head of the group holding the rank of militia captain prohibited Semyon Ateyev, president of the Kalmyk Human Rights Center, from making a video record of the search.
