Two Circassian villages bombed in Syria

Two Circassian villages in the Golan Heights in Syria are being bombed. According to unofficial information, Circassian refugees from the entire country gathered there.

According to the message, received via SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot", "people took refuge in a bunker and ask for help via SMS."

After fighting of October 31, Syrian government troops retreated and cleaned the central part of the zone of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) between Syria and Israel on the Golan Heights, the website "Adyhe Kheku" reports. As a result, local Circassian villages appeared to be under the control of Syrian rebels. However, later, the Syrian government troops entered the northern part of the demilitarized zone. They conduct shelling and bombardment. Circassian village of Bir al-Azham appeared to be in the particularly difficult situation.

The UN has already expressed the concern over "sporadic skirmishes between the Syrian security forces, including the Syrian army, and armed opposition members in the Golan Heights in the area of separation, which is equivalent to the buffer zone."

"The presence of military personnel and the conduction of military operations in the area of separation is a flagrant violation of the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement between Israeli and Syrian forces," stated on November 6 Martin Nesirky, UN Spokesperson.

According to the UN, during armed clashes, Syrian forces opened fire from mortars and tanks. The UN Spokesperson has emphasized that the current situation "jeopardizes the ceasefire between the two countries and the stability in the region as a whole", the official website of the United Nations reports.
