Lawyer: Khamzhuev, defendant in case of attempt to blow up "Sapsan" train, admits his guilt in part

Today, the Moscow City Court interrogated two out of four defendants in the case of attempt to undermine the high-speed passenger train "Sapsan". One of them Khamzhuev pleaded guilty in part, and the second defendant Umaev denied his guilt in full. This was reported by Abusupyan Gaitaev, a representative of the defence.

"Khamzhuev did not admit his guilt of banditry, in preparation for a terror act and the intent to commit a terror act. He said at trial that he refused to commit the action and ordered not to commit a terror act," the lawyer has clarified.

The lawyer Abusupyan Gaitaev believes that the trial behind closed doors is not a positive fact for the defendants.

"It is not in our favour, since people do not see or hear what is going on at trial. Testimonies of the defendants will be also not presented at trial, and I treat their testimonies, given during the preliminary investigation, as inadmissible evidence, because they were clearly given by them under pressure," Abusupyan Gaitaev has noted.
