North Ossetia: about 100 came to commemorate victims of political repressions

In Vladikavkaz, organizers of the action, dedicated to the Memory Day of victims of political repressions at the "Stone of Tears", refused to hold a rally, since public events in the republic were cancelled after the terror act at the "Chermen" checkpoint.

People, who attended the action together with rehabilitated persons and families of victims of political repressions, remembered the tough years, when thousands of innocent people were killed, and laid flowers to the monument. At the "Stone of Tears", the memorial service for the innocent victims was held.

"Our father was jailed in 1947 by Article 58 (Article 58 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) 'treason', note of the 'Caucasian Knot'). He was arrested, and we, three children, were left on the floor. Our mother was at the hospital, and we stayed with our grandmother. Ten years later, our father returned. Our property was not reimbursed to us, since there is no fund. They confiscated everything, even the bed was seized. It was horrible. It was very unfair. We cannot forget all that we had experienced, all disaster we had suffered. No compensation can cover that," said Reveka Fedorchenko, a participant of the action.

In the republic, about 20,000 persons were repressed, about 5000 persons were deprived of their property, and 1656 persons were killed in cellars of the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs) of North Ossetia. This was told by Auzbi Zuraev, the head of the North-Ossetian republic's charitable association of pensioners and invalids, victims of unlawful political repressions "Nomaran".

According to him, in North Ossetia, all persons, who were unlawfully repressed, were rehabilitated. Meanwhile, there are about 2 million persons, who cannot be subjected to rehabilitation.
