At trial on "Domodedovo" Airport terror act case five victims refuse to file civil claims

On October 23, at the course of the consideration of the case on the terror act, committed at the "Domodedovo" Airport in January 2011, the Moscow Regional Court listened to victims Mikhail Pustovalov, Naliya Zubatulina, Elena Smirnova, Elena Chumakova, and Lyudmila Larina, who refused to file civil claims for compensation of moral damages.

At first, the Court questioned Mikhail Pustovalov. He said that the terror act at the "Domodedovo" Airport killed his father. According to Mikhail Pustovalov, he saw in the course of the identification of his father that "all his body was covered with small abrasions." The victim refused to file a civil claim.

Naliya Zubatulina, whose husband was killed in the terror act, was the second victim, questioned by the Court. "We with my daughter and her husband arrived to the airport, where the husband of my daughter identified him. I identified him only at the forensic medical examination, and there were no signs of damage on his body," the victim said. The woman found it difficult to answer whether she intended to file a civil claim.

The third victim, who gave testimony to the Court, was victim Elena Smirnova. "My husband worked as a taxi driver. I heard on TV about the explosion, and I phoned my husband, but there was no answer. Later, I was called by a staff member of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), who told me that my husband died. Four arrivals of aircrafts were scheduled for that day, and my husband was waiting for customers," the victim described the details that she knew.

"At present, I do not intend to file a civil claim against the guilty persons. Against whom can I file a claim? I do not know them yet," the victim has explained.

Elena Chumakova, the fourth victim, at once said that she would not lodge a civil claim, since she could not be measured her life and the life of her husband in money. "However, if they are sentenced to life imprisonment that will be enough," she has emphasized.

Lyudmila Larina was the fifth victim, invited to judicial questioning. "My husband also worked as a taxi driver. The fact that he died, I learned on January 25 from the lists, posted on the Internet. I identified him at the morgue. I barely recognized him," the victim stated.

The victim expressed no wish to file a civil claim.
