ICRF employee wounded in Dagestan is dealing with terror act against Sheikh Saeed

The basic version says that the attempt on Nurlan Ashurbekov, the head of the division for especially important cases of the Investigatory Department for Dagestan of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), had to do with his service duties. His division is in charge of investigating resonant crimes, including terror acts and the murder of Sheikh Saeed (Said) Chirkey.

Let us remind you that the passenger car with Nurlan Ashurbekov, who is the acting head of the above division, was shelled by unidentified persons in the city of Kaspiysk on October 14 around 11:00 p.m. Moscow time. The investigator was hospitalized with a wound in his arm.

The Ashurbekov's armoured Toyota Land Cruiser received eight bullet holes; while the attackers fled in a Lada Priora car. As reported by the website of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the criminals left a magazine of the Kalashnikov submachine, 26 7.62 mm cartridges and 6 bullets and 3 9 mm cartridges in the place of the attack.

The 33-year-old investigator is still in hospital; and doctors assess his condition as moderate gravity, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Inspectors believe that the major version of the attempt on Ashurbekov has to do with his professional activities, since his division is investigating the most resonant criminal cases related to terrorism and extremism.

In particular, the division is running an inquiry into the murder of the well-known religious figure Said (Saeed) Afandi Atsaev (Chirkey), says a statement posted on the website of the ICRF.

The division headed by Ashurbekov is also investigating the terror act committed against the post "Alaska-30" in Makhachkala, the RIA "Dagestan" reports. Two explosions were triggered there on May 3, killing 14 persons and wounding more than one hundred.
