Wife of convicted Dagestani resident claims he is ill treated in Kalmykia

Khabib Saipudinov, a resident of Dagestan, cut his veins to protest against the fact that the administration of the penitentiary institution in Kalmykia did not allow prisoners to pray. This was reported by Patimat Khabibova, the wife of Khabib Saipudinov, a resident of Kizlyar.

According to her, Khabib Saipudinov was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment for drug possession. He is serving his sentence in Kalmykia, at the penal colony No. 1 of the Department of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN).

"My husband is serving his sentence in the village of Salsk in Kalmykia. He is a strictly practicing Muslim, and at present, he receives medical treated at the medical unit, since he suffers from pneumonia. Madjid Gadjibilaev, one more native of Dagestan, is also at the same medical unit. On October 10, when they made a collective prayer, Badma Murgaev, Chief of the penitentiary institution, visited their ward. When he saw Dagestani natives praying, he began shouting that they failed to get up at hi approach to welcome him. The attempts to explain the Chief that any extra movement and word could hinder the prayer did not succeed. Badma Murgaev with his subordinates started beating the natives of Dagestan," Patimat Khabibova said.

She also said that her husband and Madjid Gadjibilaev cut their veins to express their protest. "On October 11, Badma Murgaev with his subordinates again started beating the natives of Dagestan. They again cut their veins to express their protest. And, at present, they are in a difficult situation," Patimat Khabibova stated.

Till present, the "Caucasian Knot" does not have any comment from the administration of the penal colony No. 1 of the Russian FSIN Department on the statements, made by Patimat Khabibova.
