"House of Peace" to open in Karabakh and Azerbaijan

In his interview with the Karabakh newspaper Azat Artsakh, coordinator of the NGO Nagorno-Karabakh Committee "Helsinki Initiative - 92" Karen Ogandzhanian, who is a member and representative of a number of known international organizations and international prize winner in the area of peace and human rights, told that his organization was working to create the "House of Peace" in Baku and Stepanakert. "Those who will feel a need for peace will be able to come to this house, which will be a kind of cultural center," said Mr. Ogandzhanian. Free courses of English, lectures on conflictology and a human rights center will be organized in the "House of Peace". Activists of Azerbaijan NGOs will be given the opportunity to come to Stepanakert and live there for a week or a month, communicating and working with their Karabakh colleagues. "The authorities have already promised to mark out suitable premises for it," the human rights defend said. Karen Ogandzhanian assured the project would be carried out before the end of the year. International foundations engaged in peacemaking initiatives are ready to finance the project. The Karabakh authorities also provide support to the organization's activity aimed at arranging joint actions.
