South Ossetia is concerned about the presence of Georgian Troops along its borders

A delegation of South Ossetia that took part in the 21st round of Geneva discussions on October, 10 and 11, during the debate expressed its concern about compulsive presence of Georgian policemen along the whole perimeter of South Ossetian borders, Murat Djioev, Plenipotentiary of the President for post-conflict settlement, reported from Geneva.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on the eve of a new discussion round the Abkhazian party declared that with the new authority in Georgia the position of the Georgian party at the negotiations would not change. The authorities of South Ossetia were ready to establish partner's relations with Georgia but only after it acknowledged independence of the republic.

"I can set the settlement of Zardiankary as an example where the Georgian police post has not been removed yet", Murat Djioev explained.

He emphasized that a positive settlement of the question still fails in spite of a lot of meetings within the framework of Mechanism of prevention and reaction to incidents devoted to this issue.

Djioev pointed out that the participants of the discussions also repeatedly raised the question of the fates of missing citizens of South Ossetia. However, representatives of South Ossetia state that the Georgian party is not active enough in cooperation to solve the problem.

"We spent a lot of time on discussion of the issue. We suggested them to provide us with information on the citizens of our republic the fact of whose capture by the Georgian police is a matter of record", Gjioev added.

Just like the previous rounds, South Ossetian party stated the necessity to adopt a document of non-use of force.

"We supported a document in draft of non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia worked out and presented to the participants earlier", Djioev added.

The next round of Geneva discussionswas appointed at the end of 2012. Next time work groups of both Abkhazian and South Ossetian delegations are planning to work together.
