Azerbaijan hosts rally in protest against film "Innocence of Muslims"

On September 28, in Azerbaijan, about 100 residents of the village of Nardaran, located 25 km north of Baku, held a protest action against the anti-Islamic film "Innocence of Muslims", shot in the USA, and the publication of the French weekly newspaper "Charlie Hebdo" of the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

After Friday prayers, in Nardaran, the participants of the protest actions gathered in Imam Khusein Square and chanted the slogans: "Allah Akbar", "Down with America!", "Down with Israel!", "Down with France!", and other slogans.

Elders of the village and activists of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA), who delivered their speeches at the protest action, treated the film "Innocence of Muslims" and the cartoons in the French weekly newspaper as an intentional provocation to insult the feelings of Muslims around the world.

The rally has adopted a resolution, which contains a call on the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, including on the Government of Azerbaijan, to end the relationship with the USA, France, and Israel.

The protest action was completed with burning of American and Israeli flags.

The rally was not sanctioned by the local authorities; however, it took place without the intervention of the police. No police officers at all were noticed around Imam Khusein Square.
