In Georgia, head of Kakha Kaladze's pre-election office detained

Today, in the Georgian town of Samtredia, Avtandil Tevzadze, the head of the pre-election office of Kakha Kaladze, a candidate to the Parliament from the coalition "Georgian Dream", was detained. Representatives of the coalition treated detention of Avtandil Tevzadze as "politically motivated".

Let us remind you that on September 6, Kakha Kaladze, a well-known football player, headed the party list of the opposition coalition "Georgian Dream", consisting of 200 candidates. Today, on September 26, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stated that Kakha Kaladze conducted negotiations with criminal leaders of the country. Oppositionist Georgy Khaindrava also conducted negotiations with Georgian "thieves in law". According to General Prosecutor of Georgia, those materials have been received from France.

"Avtandil Tevzadze produces verbal affront to journalist"

Otar Chrdileli, the press secretary of Kakha Kaladze, states that Avtandil Tevzadze was detained by police officers in the building of the pre-election office. According to the press secretary, the police officers did not report on the reasons for the detention.

Otar Chrdileli believes that the head of the pre-election office of Kakha Kaladze is being prosecuted for political reasons.

According to him, Avtandil Tevzadze was brought to the Samtredia police department and he was interrogated, the "InterPressNews" reports.

The Georgian MIA confirmed the detention of Avtandil Tevzadze. "Staff members of the District Department of Internal Affairs in Samtredia detained Avtandil Tevzadze for an administrative offence. He produces verbal affront to journalist Nana Avalishvili, and, later, he failed to obey to police request to appear for questioning and produces physical affront to a police officer," states the MIA's report.

Avtandil Tevzadze was charged under Article 173 (disobedience to law enforcement agencies) and Article 166 (petty hooliganism) of the Code of Administrative Offences of Georgia.

In their turn, members of the coalition "Bidzina Ivanishvili-Georgian Dream" treated the detention of Avtandil Tevzadze as "politically motivated", the agency "News-Georgia" reports.

During interrogation of Avtandil Tevzadze, a protest action is being held in the town of Samtredia. Protesters have claimed that they do not intend to disperse until Avtandil Tevzadze comes out of the police station, the "news.ge" reports.

"Classified information may not be available to public"

Meanwhile, Renaud Salins, French Ambassador to Georgia, asked the Georgian government not to disclose materials on criminality, which were obtained through the cooperation between the two countries.

"Classified information, which is available for two countries, cannot be made public. Even journalists should not disseminate it. I met Vano Merabishvili (Prime Minister of Georgia, note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and my arguments were received positively. France supports the peaceful elections in Georgia; whatever the party is elected, it is the people's choice, and France supports exactly that moment. However, I want to ask the Georgian government to ensure that the information that was passed as a secret does not become available to the public," Renaud Salins said.

However, Tina Burdjaliani, Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia, claims that the Georgian government has not undertaken the obligations to France on non-dissemination of documents on the relationship of Georgian oppositionists with criminal community.

According to Tina Burdjaliani, the gendarmerie and the court never asked the Georgian side of confidentiality, the "Georgia-online" reports.

Kakha Kaladze himself also commented on the materials on relationship with the criminal community, published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

"I do not know whether it worth commenting on such a nonsense. As far as thieves and criminal community are concerned, yes, indeed, I am really acquainted with them. And they are Mikhail Saakashvili and Vano Merabishvili," said Kakha Kaladze in the air of the "Maestro" TV Company.
