Prosecutor's Office reveals embezzlement of almost 13 million roubles from Krymsk budget

Five criminal cases have been opened on materials of the checks conducted by the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory after the flood in Krymsk on facts of fraud attempts with the funds allocated to support the affected population, as well as on theft of funds intended to clear the river bed and purchase of illumination equipment.

Today, a source from the press service of the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has reported that violations of legislation had been revealed in the form of attempts to steal money allocated as state support to the citizens affected by the flood.

"Thanks to the timely intervention of the Prosecutor's Office, misappropriation of the funds amounting to more than 1.1 million budget roubles was prevented," said the source.

In particular, there are cases, when certain citizens, aiming to get the one-time assistance of 10,000 roubles and compensation of 150,000 roubles due to them and their family members, went to court to establish the fact of their permanent residence in the houses damaged by the flood. However, the check has shown that they had presented false information and forged documents. It turned out that they either do not live at these addresses; or the indicated house did not exist, says the official website of the Russian GPO.

According to a source from the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory, the Krymsk Inter-District Prosecutor's Office failed to find 32 illumination installations "Light Tower", which should have been bought for the funds of the "Red Cross" All-Russian Public Organization in the amount of more than 2.8 million roubles. A criminal case was initiated under the article of "especially large theft".

"In another case, the Prosecutor's Office has established - jointly with the MIA bodies - a fact of embezzlement of more than 9 million roubles allocated in 2009 to clear the river beds in the Krymsk District," said the source.

He explained that "in view of the collected materials a criminal case was initiated under the article of "especially large fraud," the RIA" Novosti "quotes the message.
