In Volgograd, "NTV" reporter detained when filming ASF story

In Volgograd, a correspondent of the "NTV" TV Company was detained during the shooting of reportage on the elimination of African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in the region, held in the building of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.

On September 6, the unit on duty of the Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Volgograd was contacted by staff members of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in the Volgograd Region, who reported that two unidentified men entered the Department's building. One of the visitors opened a bag, let a pig out of it and began to comment on something, and the second visitor shot all that on camera. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the press service of the Chief Department of the Russian MIA in the Volgograd Region.

A squad of the private security department arrived at the place and took both citizens to the police station No. 4 of the Department of the Russian MIA in Volgograd. The detainees were the correspondent and the cameraman of the "Maximum" programme of the federal "NTV" TV Company. According to the press service of the MIA, they explained that they arrived in Volgograd to shoot a record within preparation for the reportage on the elimination of ASF.

Staff members of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in the region have completed against the correspondent the administrative protocol under Article 10.8 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the animal health rules for transportation or slaughter of animals, the rules of processing, storage or disposal of animal products). Besides, according to a representative of the press service, the detainee will be subjected to administrative proceedings under Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (petty hooliganism). The decision on measure of administrative penalty is to be made by the magistrate court for the Central District of Volgograd.
