Delegation of Circassians from Turkey, Jordan and Syria arrive in Kabardino-Balkaria

On August 23, the delegation of representatives of the Circassian Diaspora from Turkey, Jordan and Syria, consisting of 22 persons, arrived in Kabardino-Balkaria. In the office of the International Circassian Association, located in Nalchik, the delegation met the public of the republic.

The delegation includes young politicians, businessmen, and public figures representatives of the Circassian Diaspora of Jordan, Syria and Turkey. The members of the delegation are 18-35 years old.

This morning, in Nalchik, the foreign compatriots met Arsen Kanokov, the leader of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), representatives of the Youth Parliament and the Youth Government of the KBR.

During the meeting, the guests asked to increase quotas for Syrian repatriates and to enrol more students from the Diaspora not only in the universities of Northern Caucasus, but also the universities of Russia.

Arsen Kanokov has stated that he will seek to increase the quota for residence in the republic of compatriots, in particular, immigrants from Syria. He has also announced his intention to establish a foundation, which will collect the funds from entrepreneurs of the KBR. The funds from the foundation are expected to be allocated for purchasing housing for immigrants.

The youth delegation makes an acquaintance trip and the same trip will be organized next year, perhaps even with a larger number of participants. This was reported by Ivan Mutasim, the representative of the Foundation "International Youth Cooperation".

"Many foreign media incorrectly position Russia, and we want to show that we welcome our compatriots here and that we love them. We also hope that the members of the delegation will find friend and national relatives here and that they will cooperate with them," he said.

In 2011, the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) enrolled 100 students from Syria and Jordan. This was reported by Anatoly Kodzokov, a staff member of the KBSU.
