Family members of entrepreneur, killed in Kabardino-Balkaria, received threats earlier, local residents assert

Unidentified persons extorted money from Ruslan Kodzev, an entrepreneur from the city of Baksan, and that fact could be a motive for his murder. This was reported by a resident of the city. A representative of the local administration also believes that the murder was connected with the entrepreneur activity of the deceased man.

An armed attack on the 33-year-old entrepreneur was committed in the morning of August 14 in Baksan. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), shooting was allegedly conducted from an automatic weapon. A man, who stood near the entrepreneur, was also wounded. After the attack, the criminals escaped in a car, which was captured by assault. A tied car owner was found inside the car, left by the persons, who attacked the entrepreneur, near the place of the crime. The man worked as a private taxi driver. He was captured near the bus station in Baksan.

Ruslan Kodzev was killed in front of his neighbours, when he drove in his car to work. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a Baksan resident, who preferred to remain anonymous. According to the neighbours of the deceased man, the killers were young: they looked as being 17-18 years old. They drove to the house, where Ruslan Kodzev lived, in a VAZ-2106 car of white colour and opened fire from submachine guns on the entrepreneur, who at that moment drove from the yard. He left three children, the youngest of whom was born two weeks ago.

According to a local resident, Ruslan Kodzev with his parents had two private stores for trading of household goods. Earlier, according to the local resident, the father of the killed man was extorted money; however, the source failed to say, who the extortionists were.

A representative of the Baksan administration, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the murder of Ruslan Kodzev was connected with his entrepreneur activity.

According to him, this is the second case of murder of entrepreneurs in Baksan in the last 10 days. "Earlier, entrepreneur Geshev was killed, who was busy with repairing of vehicle chassis. He earned to feed his family," the official of the city administration has clarified.
