Lawyers of man, suspected of planning attempt on Vladimir Putin, challenge decision on his extradition to Russia

Ukraine has decided to extradite to the Russian Federation Ilya Pyanzin, a citizen of Kazakhstan, suspected of planning the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Elena Abramova, Spokesperson of the Prosecutor's Office of the Odessa Region. However, the suspect's lawyers challenged the decision of the first instance court on extradition at the Court of Appeal of the Odessa Region.

According to Elena Abramova, the defence of Ilya Pyanzin challenged the decision of the Ukrainian authorities on extradition the court. "The Malinovsky District Court of Odessa dismissed the complaint, filed by the defendant Pyanzin," Elena Abramova said. She has noted that the court session was held yet on August 3.

The Spokesperson of the Prosecutor's Office has added that the representatives of Ilya Pyanzin had challenged the decision of the first instance court at the Court of Appeal of the Odessa Region. "At present, the Court of Appeal has not yet announced the date of the consideration of the complaint," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Elena Abramova as saying.

The detainee faces charges of attempting assassination of a public figure, illicit manufacturing of an explosive device, illegal possessing of explosives and participating in a stable armed grouping, the "RBC" reports.
