At trial on Rasul Mirzaev's case suffered party challenges prosecutor

Today, the Zamoskvorechye Court of Moscow renewed the investigation into the case against athlete Rasul Mirzaev, after whose blow Ivan Agafonov, a resident of Moscow, died. The victim party filed a motion to challenge Prosecutor Yulia Zotova.

The conflict between Rasul Mirzaev and Ivan Agafonov occurred on August 13, 2011, in the centre of Moscow near the night club "Garage". During the quarrel, the athlete hit Ivan Agafonov, after that the latter was taken to a hospital, where he died on August 18, 2011. Rasul Mirzaev has been in custody since August 2011.

Oksana Mikhalkina, the lawyer of the victims, justified the necessity to challenge Prosecutor Yulia Zotova by personal interest of the public prosecutor in the outcome of the case, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The defendant Rasul Mirzaev and his lawyer called the motion unjustified. Yulia Zotova herself also found no legal grounds to remove her from the process.

The Court left to make the decision on the motion filed.
