Deputy head of Khasavyurt sacked for his son helping militants

Salimkhan Djamaldinov, the deputy head of the administration of Khasavyurt, whose son surrendered during a special operation, was dismissed from his post on the initiative of the head of Dagestan, the "Caucasian Knot" was informed at the department for information policy and press service of the president of Dagestan.

On August 9, the head of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov said that in the circumstances, when the Dagestani society is at an uncompromising struggle against extremism and terrorism, any, even indirect, association of state and municipal servants with criminal elements is inadmissible.

"Any such incident drops shadow not only on the personal reputation of a state or municipal servant, but also on all the powers of the state. The persons who failed to raise their own children as law-abiding citizens and take timely measures to prevent their close ties with terrorist groupings, should immediately leave their posts in power bodies," said Magomedsalam Magomedov.

According to experts, it is at least debatable to impose in a similar way responsible for one's son on his father. "Radical sentiments are so deeply infiltrated into all sectors of the society that even high-ranking officials have – in this way or another – relatives in the underground. Just bosses are able to buy them out from power agents in the event of a threat of arrest. If we dismiss all the militants' relatives, there'll be nobody to work in the republic," said Ruslan Gereev, Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies.

While in Chechnya they destroyed militants' houses and forced parents to renounce them, Dagestan did not resort to such measures, believes journalist Timur Jafarov.

The lawyer Rasul Kadiev, who is defending former militants in the adaptation commission, believes that in such cases parents should not be responsible for their children.
