In Ingushetia, refugees intend to go on hunger strike to demand solutions of their problems

On August 7, in Karabulak, the territory of the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) "Promzhilbaza" hosted "a roundtable" on problems of refugees. The discussion was attended by human rights defenders, representatives of public organizations and refugees themselves, who stated that after the Muslim fasting they would go on a hunger strike to demand solutions to their problems.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Kheda Saratova, the head of Information and Analytical Agency "Objective", that, despite the fact that the military actions in Chechnya have long been completed, the TACs in the territory of Ingushetia still accommodate dozens of families from Chechnya, who live in extremely difficult circumstances.

"People have to live for years in a poorly adapted premises without basic amenities and constantly being in fear for their fate and the fate of their children," Kheda Saratova has emphasized.

As of today, in the Ingush town of Karabulak, there are several points of compact settlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Chechnya and the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. This was emphasized by Anatoly Sidakov, the editor of the newspaper "Mir Kavkazu" (Peace to the Caucasus), who took part in "the roundtable".

"We had a chance to see once again that the situation of those people is very difficult. And the worst thing of all is that people have no confidence that tomorrow their rights will be restored and they will be provided with housing at home," he said.

Malika Djakhaeva, one of the residents of the "Promzhilbaza", said that the refugees appealed to all possible instances; however, their problems were ignored.

According to the woman, the residents of the TAC "Promzhilbaza" have decided that upon the end of the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan, they will go on a hunger strike. "We have informed the human rights defenders about that at 'the round table'," she said.
