Charges on four clauses of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation brought against Tamerlan Amirov who “left the forest” of his own free will

On July, 27, a charge was brought against Tamerlan Amirov who “left the forest” and came to the Committee for adaptation of gunmen with the President of Dagestan about 9 months ago according to several clauses of the Criminal Code, among them an attempt at police personnel and participation in a paramilitary group, Amirov’s attorney Rasul Kadiev, member of the Committee, reported.

On June, 5, 2011, Tamerlan Amirov aged 18 being a member of paramilitary groups (PMG) fired upon a police department in Mamedkala. No one was injured as a result but the building was damaged. While Amirov was “in the forest” his mother contacted the Committee for adaptation of gunmen and asked to help her return her son. On November, 11, Tamerlan Amirov came to the police as self-reported criminal.

A charge according to several clauses concurrently was brought against Amirov: part 2, clause 208 (participation in a paramilitary group not provided for by federal law), part 2, clause 209 (participation in a permanent paramilitary group (gang) or assaults it committed), clause 317 (infringement on the life of a law enforcement officer) and clause 222 (illegal storage or purchasing arms) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Rasul Kadiev reports in his blog on JiveJournal.

Tamerlan Amirov involved in Gasan Abdullaev (“Hassan’s”) group surrendered on a security of Rizvan Kurbanov. His case was considered at a session of the Committee for adaptation on December, 7, 2011. Then in reply to Kurbanov’s question what made the young man join the PMG Amirov said that he was on friendly terms with a person whose brother “went to the forest”. After that he started fearing that he would be brought to account for complicity in the gunmen’s activities, besides, his acquaintances convinced him that law enforcement bodies would not leave him alone. The young man failed to explain what kind of ideas made him take up arms saying that he “read too many articles on the Net”.
