Residents of Sochi came out in protest to the project site of a relief road

On Sunday, July, 29, tenants of house No 66, Gagarin street of Sochi, came out in protest to a project site of a relief road in Kurortny prospect declaring that they would disallow construction of a gas pipe line in their surrounding grounds. The builders, in their turn, said that they were carrying out their management’s order.

Tenants of house No 66 of Gagarin street near which the relief road is being built repeatedly appealed to the authorities demanding to take measures to maintain their house and secure them favourable environment. The reason for doing so was the situation estimated by local residents as an emergency one around the house in connection with building of a relief road in Chaikovskiy street and “Gagarin-Donskaya” junction.

“Instead of taking measures to eliminate violations the authorities offered nothing but runarounds and the builders by their activities created dangerous conditions for the people’s lives and health”, member of community committee Lilia Lazareva declared.

According to tenant of the first floor Zoya Litovskaya, there is a “hellish noise round the clock” in the flats of the house. “The building site of the relief road has come up straight under our windows. The builders became so insolent that they screened our windows with a building fence”, she said.

Chairman of the community committee Alexey Baranov said that in spite of the fact that the residents refused to coordinate laying a gas pipe line under their windows with multisectoral production association “Mostovik”, “nobody would listen to them”. “The builders of multisectoral production association “Mostovik” just rearranged the fence, sawed off all the landscaping in our territory, pulled down the playground, brought tubing and are going to carry out dangerous works without and rights of doing so or observing technical regulations”, he states.

The tenants of the house told the builders that they would disable laying the gas pipe line in dangerous closeness to their house and had submitted a statement to Public prosecutor’s office about it.

The workers of the building site where the people held their action of protest against the actions of “Mostootryad-99” and multisectoral production association “Mostovik” expressed their sympathy with the tenants of the house and said that they understood their problems but had to fulfill the management’s orders. Alexey Tsekhov promised the activists to “carry out no works at night finishing them at 23:00”.
