Physicians confirmed traumas of Amiraslanov, activist of “Kura” staff, currently kept in the investigative isolation ward of Baku

A group of physicians representing medical centers of Penal Service and Center of forensic medical examination examined Ilham Amirsalanov, activist of “Kura” staff, in the investigative isolation ward of Baku. The physicians confirmed wounding of tympanic membrane.

Amirsalanov was detained in the morning of June, 8, near the settlement of Askerbeili where he lived. On June, 11, a charge of illegal storage of arms and ammunition was brought against Amirsalanov and Sabirabad district court arrested him for a two-months term.

After arrest Amirsalanov complained of tympanic membrane fracture as a result of beating by the police personnel. He points out in his statement that his tympanic membrane was injured as a result of violence and he does not hear well and has severe pains.

The activist also had severe pains in his heart. He asked for urgent medical examination, forensic expertise and inquiry on the fact of torture, Mediaforum.az reports.

Punching of tympanic membrane is mentioned in an official expert report on Ilham Amirsalanov’s state of health. However, the physicians stated wound healing and expressed a hope that the injured membrane would recover in the nearest future, a report on the web-site of civil association “For Human Rights” posted on July, 29, runs.

Public prosecutor’s office also collected evidence on the fact of torturing Amirsalanov, Contact online news reports.

There are yet no comments from representatives of the police in connection with the traumas inflicted on the arrested human rights activist.
