Magomed Sulaev’s relatives in Dagestan are afraid of a new abduction

Relatives of Magomed Sulaev, earlier released resident of Khasavyurt district, reported that on July, 26, a suspicious car with tinted window glasses, without vehicle identification numbers was staying near his house the whole day. They fear that Magomed might be kidnapped again.

On July, 20, a resident of Khasavyurt district reported that he was eyewitness of abduction of Anvar Guseinov aged 21 and Magomed Sulaev aged 29 the moment they were coming out of the mosque. The young men’s relatives submitted a statement to local department of Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation. Later the information appeared that Guseinov and Sulaev were kept in district Department of Interior Affairs of Khasavyurt. On July, 21, Sulaev was released from the Department. No charges were brought against him.

After release from the police Magomed Sulaev stated that he underwent torture. According to him, they beat his head against concrete floor demanding confessionary statements that he supplied Guseinov with arms. Before release from district Department of Interior Affairs of Khasavyurt he was warned that if he told anyone about beating he would be taken into custody.

“We fear that Magomed can be abducted again. We do not know what kind of car it is but it obviously does not belong to any resident of the settlement. The settlement is small and people know one another”, Magomed Sulaev’s relative said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

Officials of standby unit of Khasavyurt district Department of Interior Affairs said: “Let them come and submit a statement if they see any threat to his life”.
