After the presidential election oppositional forces in Nagorno-Karabakh intend to organize themselves and go on struggle, Masis Maiylyan, Chairman of Social Council for foreign policy and security of Nagorno-Karabakh, declared. The need for real opposition has boiled up in the community, sociologist David Karabekyan considers.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that according to a decision of CEC of Karabakh, the incumbent president Bako Saakyan won the election of July, 19, poling 67,65% votes. 32,51% of the electors voted for Vitaly Balasanyan. Arcady Sogomonyan polled only 0,84% votes.

By voting for Vitaly Balasanyan one third of the electorate expressed their disagreement with extension of the former authorities’ policy, Masis Maiylyan who was member of Vitaly Balasanyan’s team during the presidential election considers. “According to my information, oppositional forces intend to organize themselves and go on independent struggle to solve the problems raised during the recent presidential election campaign”, Maiylyan said.

Manvel Sarkisyan, Head of the Armenian Center of national and strategic research, is sure that new realias emerged in political life of Karabakh and an opposition appeared the authorities have to face. “They most probably, just like any post-Soviet authorities, are trying to disable strengthening of any kind of opposition”, he surmised. In the opinion of independent analyst and sociologist David Karabekyan, time is ripe to enact a “new management model” based on social partnership in Karabakh.
