The court in Tbilisi arrested three representatives of coalition "The Georgian Dream"

The City court of Tbilisi arrested three representatives of oppositional coalition "The Georgian Dream" for a three-month's term. The representatives of the coalition consider the verdict unlawful and are going to appeal against it in Strasbourg court.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on July, 16, three representatives of oppositional coalition "The Georgian Dream" were detained: Executive Secretary of the Conservative party of Georgia Merab Kachakhidze, leader of Gldan district organization of "National Forum" party Teimuraz Sheklashvili and activist of the same party Tariel Kardava. Representatives of Public prosecutor's office declared that they were detained in connection will illegal transfer of donations to "The Georgian Dream".

Charges of violation of the law "On political associations of citizens" were brought against the detainees, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"Inquiry of the Ministry of Interior Affairs confirmed that Merab Kachakhidze gave 7 thousand lari (4,25 thousand dollars) in cash to the leader of Mtatsmadi district office of the party. By his order, the sum had to be distributed among six persons who according to a certain plan, had to transfer the money to the party's bank account", Zaza Kachibaya, Head of Anti-corruption Department of Chief Public prosecutor's office of Georgia, reported.

In addition, he states that according to notarized documents, the "National Forum" acted the same way. "Sheklashvili and Kardava passed 1 750 lari (about one thousand dollars) to one of the party activist who had to transfer the money to the party's account".

"The judgment was passed in spite of the fact that the prosecution did not provide forcible arguments proving the detainees' guilt", Kachakhidze's attorney Vladimir Macharashvili declared after the end of the trial.

One of the leaders of the Conservative party Bidzina Gudjabidze, in his turn, pointed out that the verdict of the City court of Tbilisi would be appealed against in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. "We will appeal against the judgment in Strasbourg because there is no justice in Georgia", he explained.
