ICRF: 146 persons perished in Krymsk Region of Krasnodar Territory

According to recent information, the death toll in the flooding in the city of Krymsk and Krymsk District reached 146 persons, including 44 men and 102 women. This was reported by the press service of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in the Krasnodar Territory.

Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent continues Twitter broadcasting from flooded Krymsk, which was started yesterday, on July 8.

"Till present, the found six bodies have not been identified. Investigators have already examined all the bodies, assigned and performed forensic examinations on each body; 75 bodies were identified, and they are being given out to their relatives for burials. We obtain information about 157 victims of the disaster, who were hospitalized," reports the statement on the ICRF's website.

According to the ICRF's information, effective at 1:00 p.m., 430 damaged households were examined with the preparation of protocols of investigatory actions. The investigators inspected the Neberdjai water reservoir and "revealed that the water reservoir had no drain valves or locking devices in its draining system and that at increase of water level, drain of water goes in its natural way."

It should be noted that earlier, residents of Krymsk expressed the opinion that their houses were flooded because of opening of floodgates of the Neberdjai water reservoir, located in the vicinities of the city. However, the bosses of the Company "YuVK 'Novorossiysk'", operating the waterworks of the water reservoir, deny that statement and claim that the Neberdjai water reservoir softened the disaster. According to the preliminary results of the inspection, in the cities and dwelling settlements of Gelendzhik, Krymsk, Novorossiysk, Divnomorskoe, Nizhnebakanskaya, Neberdjaevskaya, and Kabardinka more than 5000 houses and 643 houses were destroyed, including 547 houses, which were partly destroyed, and 96 houses, which were completely destroyed. Electricity, gas and water supplies are being interrupted. Residents, whose became homeless, were evacuated to temporary accommodation points.
