Novopavlovsk

Rayon (sector) centre in Stavropol kray, 268 km south-east of Stavropol. Located in Ciscaucasia, at the southern end of the Stavropol Upland, on the Kura River. Railway station (Apollonskaya) in the Rostov - Baku line. Population (1992 est.) 20.1 thousand, (1979 est.) 14.7 thousand.

The stanitsa (Cossack village) of Novopavlovskaya until 1981; a town thereafter. Novopavlovsk is an agricultural centre with industry oriented on processing of the local agricultural raw materials. The town has food and glass industry.
