Sister of Asiyat Tekhazheva, detained in Chechnya, asks rights defenders for help

Amina Tekhazheva, the sister of Asiyat Tekhazheva, who was detained on suspicion of preparing a terror act, asked Dagestani regional public organization "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) to render assistance to the detainee.

"In her letter, Amina asks to render assistance to Asiyat, since she was detained unlawfully, and she went to Dagestan to study. Amina writes that her sister was followed by policemen in Kabardino-Balkaria. On the detention day, a search was conducted at the apartment, where Asiyat lived, and policemen allegedly found weapon there. Amina believes that the weapon was planted. In our turn, we will try to render assistance, including assistance of legal nature," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aisha Selimkhanova, the head of the Dagestani regional public organization "Pravozaschita".

Amina Tekhazheva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her sister was detained by power agents unlawfully.

"I have learned from the media that my sister is in Grozny. She is suspected of the fact that she planned to commit a terror act, and, besides, they said that they found extremist literature and a suicide note at her place and that her parents were not aware of her trip. All that statements are false. The so-called suicide note is the will, which every Muslim should have. The parents were aware of her intentions, since starting from the time when we began to wear hijabs, our relations deteriorated a bit, and my sister lived apart from them," Amina Tekhazheva said.

At present, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of representatives of the investigatory bodies of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) with regard to statements of the relatives of Asiyat Tekhazheva.

Asiyat Tekhazheva is the wife of Astemir Sokurov, who at present is under investigation and is kept at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of Nalchik. He is accused of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF) and illegal manufacture of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
