ICRF completes investigation into terror act at "Domodedovo" Airport

The Chief Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has completed the investigation into the criminal case against four persons, involved, according to investigators, in committing the terror act in the Moscow "Domodedovo" Airport. The defendants and their lawyers began to read the materials of the criminal case file, the ICRF reports.

The charges under the case were filed against brothers Islam and Ilez Yandiev, Akhmed Evloev, and Bashir Khamkhoev. Depending on the role of each defendant, they are accused of committing the crimes under a number of Article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including Article 210 (participation in a criminal association), 209 (participation in a stable armed grouping and attacks committed by it), and 205 (committing a terror act).

According to investigators, the terror act was committed by Magomed Evloev, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Ali-Yurt of the Nazran District of Ingushetia, who actuated an improvised bomb with weight of 3-5 kilograms in TNT equivalent, filled with striking elements in the form of a number of cylindrical rollers and balls of bearings. The explosion killed 37 persons, and 172 citizens of Russia and foreign countries got injuries of varying severity.

According to the investigators, the terror act was organized by Dokku Umarov, the leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz". In total, the investigatory and search operations revealed 28 members of the "Imarat Kavkaz", involved in organizing and committing the terror act in the "Domodedovo" Airport. Some of them were killed during special operations; four of them were detained, and they were kept in custody as a pre-trial restriction measure, and other seven suspect, including Dokku Umarov, were put on the wanted list.

The investigators have carried out about 600 different examinations, including linguistic, psychological and psychiatric, photo portrait, explosion and technical, biological, and at least 400 forensic examinations. Due to photo portrait and linguistic examinations, it became possible to prove that namely Dokku Umarov instructed Magomed Evloev to go to Moscow to commit the terror act as a suicide bomber, the ICRF's website reports.
