US journalist disappears in North Osetia

A journalist's disappearance has been reported by the consul of the US Embassy. He turned to the Moscow police asking for help overnight.

The journalist left home last Sunday, February 8, and has not returned so far, he said. Shortly after agencies reported that the woman disappeared not in Moscow but in the area of Mozdok.

Later the US Embassy confirmed this fact but refused to give the journalist's name and place of employment.

The US Embassy has already asked the Prosecutor General's Office for help. Meanwhile the press service of the South Osetian Interior Ministry reports it has received no application about people's disappearances for the last 24 hours.
