The Cossacks of Volgograd region set outposts as a sign of protest against the plans of developing deposits of nickel

The Cossack outposts with slogans "Down with nickel!", "We did not vote for nickel!" went on patrol along the sectors of Moscow highway, Novonicolaevsky and Novoanninsky districts of Volgograd region and Borisoglebsk district of Voronezh region.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on May, 27, a meeting against development of a nickel deposit which, in the opinion of ecologists and residents of Voronezh and Volgograd regions, threatened to an ecocatastrophe passed off in the town of Uriupinsk, Volgograd region. On June, 10, there was a cross procession in Uriupinsk followed by a church service in form of prayerful standing against construction of a nickel plant in the neighbouring Novokhopersky district of Voronezh region.

According to representatives of the Cossacks, outposts instead of habitual pickets of protest were organized for the defendants of the Khoper river to have no problems with the law toughening the demands concerning participants of meetings, IA "Vysota 102" reports.

"The actions of protest against construction of a nickel plant in the conservation Khoper zone were organized by representatives of registry Cossacks. The Cossacks, participants of the Great Don Army, and representatives of national and cultural autonomy were consolidated by their wish to maintain the purest nature of their motherland", ataman of National and Cultural Autonomy of the Cossacks of Uriupinsk Alexander Titov declared.

The Cossack outposts will be standing on duty till June, 24. Besides, in the nearest future residents of Khoper area are going to hammer bowing crosses in the foundation pits for construction of the gigantic nickel plant. An action of protest against construction of the nickel plant is planned on June, 24, in Mikhailovka, "Gorod Geroev" ("Town of Heroes" ) reports.

It should be reminded that on May, 22, it was announced that "Medonogorsky cooper and sulfuric enterprise" limited company, part of "Management mountain construction holding" limited company received the right of development of the deposits. According to Grigory Rudoy, Mountain production director of "Management mountain construction holding", the company is ready to launch an ecologic program of environment monitoring in this area beginning already from August of 2012.

Governor of Voronezh region Alexey Gordeev considers that there are no reasons to worry about environment of the district and the region of the whole.
