Oleg Shein is unaware of the motive for court's refusal on his lawsuit to cancel results of Astrakhan Mayor election

Olga Morozova, Judge of the Kirov District Court of Astrakhan, who pronounced the decision to refused Oleg Shein, the ex-candidate for the position of City Mayor, in granting his lawsuit to invalidate the outcome of the election of Astrakhan Mayor, held on March 4, read out only the findings of the court decision. Upon receipt of the reasoning of the court decision, Oleg Shein will begin preparation for appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Today, the court refused Oleg Shein to grant his lawsuit in full.

The reasoning of the court decision is promised to be provided on June 20; thus, the reasons for refusal are unknown. This was reported by Oleg Shein himself. According to him, upon receipt of the details, he and his lawyers will discuss the plan for further actions, the "Interfax" reports.

Oleg Shein expressed his displeasure with the court decision and did not rule out the possibility of going on a new hunger strike.

"The previous hunger strike has reached its goal. The trial materials include 9 volumes, a huge amount of video records, and witness testimonies. At present, we can safely use legal means. I believe that the ECtHR is unlikely to agree to recognize the court decision, which completely ignores the material law, as legitimate," the "Russian News Service" quotes Oleg Shein as emphasizing. In his blog in the "Livejournal", Oleg Shein writes that he will get the right to appeal to the Strasbourg ECtHR in about 1.5 months. "This time is necessary, since we are to pass through another formal authority the regional court. The case is loud and resonant, and we have all chances of its quick consideration. However, in this case, video records from Astrakhan electoral precincts will be reviewed in Europe. And they will review the mayoral and presidential elections. At 47 electoral precincts, votes were counted simultaneously in violation of the law. However, it will be no longer our problem," Oleg Shein writes.
