Participants of a citizens' gathering in Krasnodar demanded from the police to inspect the migrant laborers' activities

The personnel of Department of Federal Migration Service (DFMS) and the police of Krasnodar must inspect the activities of migrant laborers working at the building sites, participants of a citizens' gathering declared in the evening of June, 14. The action was held in one of the remote micro-districts of Krasnodar located in Solnechnaya street. Representatives of the Cossacks and Russian nationalists took part in it.

All in all, over 30 residents of Krasnodar participated in the gathering. "There has been very much of construction work in the micro-district during the last five years. When we go out in the evening we fear for our wives and children. We see total outrage, there is an impression that we are living in some other state", local resident Artem Cherny, one of the organizers of the gathering, said.

In his opinion, it is the "migrant laborers building multistory houses here and living in cellars or the flats they are trimming who aggravate the criminal situation".

People in the micro-district say that the migrants have stopped receiving wages and set to theft. At night of June, 11, thieves who penetrated into a flat robbed Artem Cherny and then his neighbour. Local residents are sure that it was all illegal migrants' work.

Roman Shabalkov, Senior inspector of the Department of Migration Control of DFMS in Krasnodar region, who came to the gathering tried to explain the citizens that to carry out the inspection (concerning illegal migrants - note by the "Caucasian Knot") the Department must have the respective statement, the personnel of DFMS cannot investigate thefts.

"Every micro-district with intensive construction is a problem zone for FMS. If we look around we will find out that half of these buildings have been an unauthorized construction from the very beginning. The way they were legalized is another question", Roman Shabalkov said.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that in June of 2011 a session of Advisory Council of representatives of civil associations and ethnic groups was held where issues in the sphere of illegal migration in Southern Federal Okrug were discussed. The participants pointed out that the main problem was that many newcomers did not legalize their arrival in Russia and the employers hired illegal migrants.
