Dudaev and Maskhadov's ex- emissary returned from Georgia to Chechnya

Khizri Aldamov, emissary of self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (CRI) in Georgia and head of Chechen diaspora in that country returned home and had a meeting with Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. During his meeting with Head of Chechnya broadcasted by local TV channel Khizri Aldamov declared that he had been "absolutely wrong" criticizing the present Chechen authorities.

During the years of government of presidents of CRI Djohar Dudaev and Aslan Maskhadov Khizri Aldamov was considered Ambassador of Ichkeria in Georgia and represented the interests of the self-proclaimed republic there. Aldamov spent almost 18 years in Georgia and was earlier one of the most serious critics of the present Chechen authorities.

"My statements completely disagreed with real state of affairs", former Ichkerian political declared.

"It pains me to realize that I frittered away all these years for Dudaev, Maskhadov, Basaev and their henchmen who I had faith in and was devoted to have done nothing good at all for their people. They only caused misfortune and calamity. I deeply repent of all these. I am sincerely sorry before you, Ramzan Ahmatovich, and before all the Chechen people", Aldamov said.

He also expressed an opinion that Ahmed Zakaev (ex-Minister of Culture of CRI and Aslan Maskhadov's special representative in foreign countries) and Ahjiad Idigov (ex-Speaker of the Parliament of Ichkeria) who reside abroad and call themselves leaders of the Government of CRI in exile should also realize that "those are long-bygone days".

Ramzan Kadyrov, in his turn, said that he was glad about Aldamov's return. "You worked with Dudaev and Maskhadov. I am glad that you acknowledged your mistakes and chose the right way. You are well known in the republic and outside it. I am sure you will be of use for Chechen people and contribute into consolidation of our community, carry out efficient work for the Chechens residing outside the republic and the country to return home", Head of Chechnya said.
