In Krasnodar, opposition rallies held on Day of Russia

Today, in Krasnodar, several opposition rallies to mark the Day of Russia were held simultaneously. All events, initiated by supporters of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (the LDPR), the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia), the "Left-Wing Front" and the "Yabloko" Parties, were sanctioned by the city authorities.

The first event was the action of the Regional Branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party. In Chistyakovskaya Grove, the Kuban members of the party distributed more than 500 balloons and caps with party symbols. After that, the participants of the action listened to the "Brothers Trojans" Band, the supporters of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party.

In total, about 30 persons attended the event. No political slogans and demands were sound at the action organized by the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party.

After that, at 2:00 p.m., at the intersection of Krasnaya and Khakurate Streets, the rally of the Regional Branch of the LDPR was held. About 50 party supporters, nationalists and members of the "Russian Jogging" Faction attended the rally. Apart from the flags of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Russian imperial flag was spread at the rally. Alexander Kropochev, the State Duma deputy from the Krasnodar Territory, became the main speaker.

At 2:30 p.m., in Chistyakovskaya Grove, the action of the civil society activists with participation of representatives of the "Yabloko" Party and the movement "Left-Wing Front" was to be held. By 3:00 p.m., the rally gathered about 60-70 persons. The action lasted about 1.5 hours and represented speeches of civil society activists and representatives of the mentioned political forces, which were interspersed with the concert performances of a local youth rock band. After that, about two dozen participants of the action went for a walk along Krasnaya Street, and some of them held white balloons and wore white ribbons.

By the end of the rally in Chistyakovskaya Grove, the number of its participants was about 30-40 persons. The action was monitored by about 10 officers and 5 representatives of the city and regional administrations.

In the evening, starting from 6:00 p.m., in Krasnodar, Pushkin Square will host celebration of the Day of Russia, organized by the local administration. The performance of the "Gorky Park" Band is to become the main event of the holiday.

Let us remind you that the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (the CPRF) refused to hold public organized events on June 12 in Krasnodar. However, the city communists planned to hold on that day a flash mob and to distribute about 10,000 copies of the party newspaper and leaflets.
