Anzor Kurashinov: 300 more returnees from Syria to come to Kabardino-Balkaria till end of year

Till the end of the year, the number of returnees, coming from Syria to Kabardino-Balkaria, will increase by 300 more persons, and 150 returnees have already arrived. This was reported on June 5 by Anzor Kurashinov, Chief of the Division of the State Committee on affairs of public and religious organizations in Kabardino-Balkaria, at the seminar on adaptation of returnees from Syria, held in Nalchik.

At present, 104 persons out of 150 returnees, who came to the republic from Syria, are accommodated at the health centres "Druzhba" (Friendship) and "Elbrus", and other returnees stayed at their relatives' places. According to Anzor Kurashinov, not all returnees are Adygs; there are two Balkar and one Dagestani families among them.

A working group, which included 5 persons from the governmental commission to support repatriation of compatriots from Syria and members of the public organization "Peryt", assists the immigrants in obtaining necessary documents.

Beslan Khagazhei, the member of the public organization "Peryt", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that NGO's efforts are no longer enough to help returnees: "We do not have enough time to issue invitations."

Immigrants are provided with free meals and medical care. The cost of catering is being paid by local businessmen.

In his turn, immigrant Shaukat Cherkes has emphasized that the main thing for immigrants is to obtain a residence permit. "We anticipated that we would face difficulties in moving; however, all obstacles can be overcome, the main thing is to get a residence permit and a job," he says.

Shaukat Cherkes graduated from the Peoples' Friendship University. He is a mechanical engineer by profession. According to him, he would like to settle somewhere in the outskirts of Nalchik, but not far, since his profession is applicable only in the city.

During the seminar, the immigrants were informed about tax obligations, rights to pensions, and a right to drive a car.
