Volgograd Region: educatress to stand trial for beating a child

An educatress of a family group in the Volgograd Region, who, according to the investigation, had severely beaten a six-year-boy for taking a candy without permission, will face trial on charges of intentionally causing grave harm to the child.

On February 22, in the Kotovsk District of the Volgograd Region, a child of six was hospitalized into the intensive care unit in an unconscious condition. The educatress, according to investigators, had noticed that one of her pupils voluntarily had taken some candy and did not confess; therefore, she beat him. Only on March 7, the child recovered from coma.

The boy took a long course of treatment and rehabilitation – he spent almost two months at hospital and was discharged only on April 18. The injury has not passed without traces – his leg does not function properly. Nobody can foresee the implications for his health, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" writes.

According to investigators, the accused Oksana Levchenko had beaten the child's various parts of the body, and then repeatedly hit his head against the floor. When the child fainted, Levchenko called an ambulance.

"Doctors diagnosed a closed craniocerebral trauma, intracranial haematoma and a grave brain contusion," says the release of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF for the Volgograd Region.

The indictment was approved and sent to the Kotovsk District Court of the Volgograd Region to consider on the merits. "The defendant will wait for the trial in custody. Levchenko has admitted her guilt partially," informs the Prosecutor's Office of the Region.

The six-year-old boy and his sister, who also was in the above family group, are currently living in the state social institution of social services "The Petrovalsky Social Rehabilitation Centre for Minors", the RIA "Novosti" reports.
