A resident of Dagestan reports violations of his son's rights in a penal colony of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

Gazimagomed Gaziev, resident of the settlement of Shamkhal-stantsia, reports that his son Shamil Gaziev who is serving his penalty in penal colony No eight of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is undergoing victimization on religious and ethnic grounds.

We will remind that on June, 22, 2010, Shamil Gaziev was sentenced to 24 years of imprisonment in a special regime colony. The Supreme Court of Dagestan acknowledged him involved in a double act of terror committed in Kizlyar on March, 31, 2010.

According to Shamil Gaziev's father, obstacles are created for his son at the moment of prayer, besides, he is not receiving due medical aid.

"As soon as he and his friends start regular namaz reformers come into the room and greet them while the Moslems are prohibited to interrupt prayer. When it is over everyone is placed in a lock-up for they have allegedly violated prison regulations by not answering the greetings. In this way, my son, Evgeny Tsybenko and Gasan Magomedov were repeatedly punished", Gazimagomed Gaziev said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to him, Shamil Gaziev is a second category disabled person, he suffers from constitutional hormonal adrenal inferior.

"Respectively, he must receive lifelong therapy. But when he asked for medical aid the warders said: "Come along, we'll treat you", brought him into one of the rooms and severely beat him up there. Now Shamil does not know what is to be done. When he manages to appeal to the medics them give him an expired pill of analgin", Gazimagomed Gaziev continues.

Besides, according to him, the parents wait for their son's letters for 3 or 4 months. "In reply to my complaints the management of the colony answered that they had a lack of censors. Yet in winter I sent a parcel to my son but it came back two months later. They told me in the post office that no one came to receive the parcel, therefore it was sent back", Gaziev elder said.

He also reported that Shamil's relatives were prohibited meetings with him stipulated by the law.

Gazimagomed Gaziev said that he went to colonel of Internal Service Igor Vaneev, Chief of the Department of Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, to submit his complaints.

"He listened to me attentively and promised to do his best to help but, according to my son, the situation altered very little. Vaneev also said that my son would soon be examined by an endocrinologist without fail", Gazimagomed Gaziev added.
