Friends of Gadji Mustafaev kidnapped in Makhachkala block federal highway for two hours

At night on May 26, friends and acquaintances of Gadji Mustafaev, who had been kidnapped in Makhachkala, blocked the Federal Highway Makhachkala-Astrakhan for two hours. In total, the action involved over 300 persons.

"We blocked a federal highway with a demand to know the whereabouts of my son. Policemen drove up to us; one of them asked me to go with him to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as there was some information that my could be kept there. We went there, but found no Gadji there; however, they promised to me that today I'd get exact information about my son," Magomed Mustafaev, Gadji's father told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The kidnapping of Gadji Mustafaev was committed in the afternoon on May 25; the eyewitnesses of the incident told about it to his relatives.

"My son did not respond to mobile phone calls for a long time, which had never happened before; we were worried. Later, we received information from a woman who witnessed Gadji's beating and kidnapping," said Magomed Mustafaev.

According to the father, the woman told him that Gadji Mustafaev's car was blocked, in the vicinity of the New Bus Station, by several cars; and armed men in camouflage and masks jumped out of them.

"They attacked the son; he tried to resist; the beating became stronger; then Gadji was tied, thrown into one of the cars, which left at high speed toward the central Makhachkala," said the man.

He added that his son worked at a shoe factory; he was a strictly practicing Muslim; and was not registered by the police. In their turn, the on duty unit of the Kirov ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala and the Dagestani MIA said that they knew nothing about the incident.

At least two persons were eyewitnesses of the kidnapping.
